Verdant vistas that breathe life into the soul
Mysore is a captivating city, surrounded by a blend of villages and hamlets where agriculture thrives as the primary way of life. One such place is Belagola, less than twenty kilometres from the city. Here, you'll find the historic 9th-century temple, Shri Srinivasa Ksethra, perched along the banks of the Kaveri River.

Thanks to the irrigation set-up made possible by Kaveri, farming happens here round the year. While just a few months ago, the fields were brown and stacked with hay, they are now refreshingly green. It was rewarding to watch the farmers at work in the verdant fields, cranes and other birds foraging, an old man leisurely going on his bullock cart. The tranquillity of rural life!
The paddy fields are back to being green
Making the view along the road a pretty scene
It is not enough, no matter how many I have seen
To come back time and again I am keen
