Hosaholalu

Nestled in a small town with a tongue-twisting name, Hosaholalu is home to a 13th-century temple the exquisite Hoysala architecture dedicated to Vishnu. This quaint town lies just two to three kilometres from Krishnaraja Pete (KR Pete) and about sixty kilometres from Mysore. The temple boasts intricately carved panels that vividly illustrate scenes from the Ramayana, Mahabharata, and Bhagavata Purana.

According to art critic Gerard Foekema, the temple exhibits the "new style" and belongs to the second phase of Hoysala architectural innovation during the 13th century. Although it lacks a foundation inscription, its dating is based on the style of the sculptures and architecture.

During my visit on Friday, a priest was preparing for the weekly ceremony. With no one else around (on this weekday), I felt an overwhelming sense of peace in the tranquil surroundings.  In the perfect, serene surroundings, I lost no time and immersed myself in relishing the tranquillity.
